Why Do Vacations Feel Gone Quickly?

Spread the love

Have you ever been waiting for a vacation, and… in the blink of an eye, the vacation is over. When it’s your turn to go to school, work, or college, how come it’s taking so long…… Why do vacations feel gone quickly?

Hmm, but why is it like that?

Okay, this phenomenon is called the “holiday paradox”. Even though when we go on vacation it feels fast, when we look back, in fact, it’s not that fast! Hmm, but why can the facts be inversely proportional to that? And is it true that time goes fast just because we feel happy?

So, consciously or unconsciously, humans have two different sides when experiencing events and after experiencing events. When we are doing it, whether or not time is fast may be greatly influenced by feelings, if we are bored it will take a long time, on the other hand, if we are doing things we like, time tends to feel fast.

It’s different after experiencing an incident, what affects us more is memory! For example, when we are young it feels like time goes by longer, while when we grow up, time seems to just fly by. It’s not because time goes by faster, but….often the older we get, the fewer new things we encounter, it’s different when we were little, we try this and that for the first time, and that’s why I feel the day goes on long because it has many stories. Well, that’s why when we go on vacation and discover new things, our memory actually saves a lot of memories….and when we flashback, we just realize, it turns out that vacations don’t go that fast!!

Let’s be More Spesific

Well, to be more specific, our confusion comes from how memory works, which is different from experience! We don’t remember everything we go through. For example, we watch a movie for 2 hours, only the most spectacular part of the ending we remember the most! It doesn’t matter how long we watch or take a vacation, if we do that, even if it’s fun or not fun, surely all we remember is just a little bit and during flashbacks, that time flies.

Okay, I hope this article not only accompanies you in your free vacation time but also reminds you to fill your holidays with new things! Because of the long and short vacations, it’s not how many days…but what we do.
